Austin Avenue Methodist Church is an Independent Wesleyan Community. As an historical Methodist Church, founded in 1900, our Methodist roots run long and deep in this community. We are a church committed to discipleship in Jesus Christ, holiness, loving our community, and the worship of the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Our desire is that in all that we do, this is reflected, and Christ shines through.  

We aspire to be good neighbors. Our church building is located at the edge of Downtown Waco, one of the fastest growing parts of our city, and an area with many needs. Austin Avenue partners with neighboring ministries and outreaches to meet the needs of those around us in the name of Jesus. As followers of Jesus Christ, we believe we are called to love others like Christ.  

When asked about which is the greatest of all the commands, Jesus responded, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-40)  

We believe that it is our call to love God with all that is in us, to love our neighbors well, and become more like Jesus. It is our hope that everyone who walks through our doors will experience this.
